To Breathe Again

by Rachelle Estar Zerebeski

I try to run

To hide, to escape this hell

Burning inside of me

I cry, tears of wonderment

And pain, always that pain

Chasing blindly, trapped

I feel darkness

Descending on me

I have nowhere to go

And not enough tears

My strength is waning

There's nothing left to do

But sleep; not peaceful

But a numb sleep, far away

Yet I hear your voice

And I feel your love

You hold me in your embrace

And everything becomes okay

I can breathe peacefully again
