Began to See

by Rachelle Estar Zerebeski

As I sat under a tree

Watching life flee

Away from me

I began to see;

I saw a mouse scamper by,

And a spider catch a fly.

And then a man in a tie

Walked past me with a sigh.

Life was hard, he thought.

It was because he sought

And in his mind he fought

Only for what money bought.

But he did not seem to heed;

He did not follow nature's lead.

And so he simply could not succeed

For on life's lessons he would not feed.

Man makes his own silly choices

With only his own guiding voices

And all his silent, useless noises

While his stupidity he advertises.

And so I sat under a tree

Watching life flee

Away from me

And I began to see.
