Without Being Told

by Jessica Zerebeski, age 10

Old Granny Seep
Is in her cottage old
She’s fast asleep
Without being told

Rumours spread
As a few days pass
"Perhaps she’s dead?"
Someone asks

The people do weep
And their hearts are cold
‘Cause she’s fast asleep
So the cottage is sold

On the seventh day
In the cottage old
Granny awakes
Without being told

The people do laugh
And now they know
That they were daft
To believe it so

The years fly by
And it is said
That a rumour is a lie
And a lie is dead
