Childhood Memories

by Rachelle Estar

Sometimes we're proud

Sometimes we're shy

Sometimes we're loud

Sometimes we sigh

Sometimes we mourn

Sometimes we cry

For our childhood

Long gone by

For the memories

For the good times

When we sat and talked

And shared our rhymes

But now we're older

And we cannot mingle

Without our childhood

Though our hearts do tingle

For what we remember

Of times gone past

And things we did

That didn't last

And our hearts do yearn

To do it again

But we are older, now

And more mundane

Yet, they say

We must go on

Leave the past

And forge beyond

But memories

Keep us alive

Make us happy

Help us survive

So go ever forward

But bring along the past

Hold on to your memories

To the very last
